Who You Are
You are a committed professional who prioritizes preventing homelessness in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act, associated Code of Guidance, and related laws. You are capable of performing housing needs assessments and creating individual housing plans. You excel in managing complex case loads in a demanding environment, as well as preventing homelessness through advice, negotiation, and mediation.
What the Job Involves
This is a multifaceted role that involves frontline service provision for clients seeking housing assistance. You will help families and individuals retain their current accommodation, manage a caseload of clients in need of housing, and utilize various housing options to minimize the use of temporary accommodations. You also provide advice to prevent the loss of privately rented or owner-occupied homes. In addition, you will have a customer-facing role via drop-in services, appointments, and telephone advisories. The role may also demand evening meetings to manage client demand efficiently. You will respond to clients affected by welfare reforms, assist in finding suitable housing for clients in supported accommodations, and carry out duties keeping in mind equal opportunities and fresh values of the Council.
